The M4 carbine and M16 are not ideally suited for all missions, so it was proposed that the modularity of the M16 series would allow a user to replace the upper receiver of an existing weapon with one more suitable to the task. One of two proposed special mission receivers that were planned for inclusion into the SOPMOD Block II kit, the CQBR has taken off on its own. Like the proposed Special Purpose Receiver, the Close Quarters Battle Receiver has been more or less taken on by the Naval Surface Warfare Center, Crane Division (often referred to as NSWC-Crane or just "Crane") as its own project following the CQBR's removal from the SOPMOD program. Just as the Special Purpose Receiver morphed into the Special Purpose Rifle, and was type-classified as Mk 12 Mod 0/1, the complete CQBR-equipped carbine has been type-classified as the Mk 18 Mod 0, or the Mk 18 Mod 1 with a sightless gas block and full-length accessory rail kit.

The MK18 is something of a ground breaking moment as its a full licensed product from TOKYO MARUI themselves. The long awaited TOKYO MARUI Next Gen Recoil Shock system is now fully licensed and ready to be delivered to players around the world.

Cybergun's new fully licensed MCX is not something to take lightly. Cybergun have upped their game as handling this for the first time will make you feel like you have a sturdy airsoft gun in your hands. The extendable stock and flip up front and rear sights are extremities you won't have to worry about due to the sheer sturdiness of the gun. The Tokyo Marui AK74MN is a modernized AK74, with differences in build material and furniture to make the weapon lighter and more comfortable to use than the AKS74 (S standing for the folding stock version of the AK74). You will immediately notice the main difference from the classic AK74 in the color and material of the foregrip and stock. Where previously there was wood, which was heavy and prone to damage and rot, now there are polymer grips, with lines for extra grippyness. Tokyo Marui has set out to replicate this new, updated version of an age old design and at the same time, design a next-generation AEG with features that are the first of its kind, including a brand new gearbox, blowback system and even a recoil engine.

The overall build of the gun is top quality. There is no plastic parts where metal should be and all the plastic is high quality, impact resistant ABS. There are no creaky bits or flexing on the gun, this is one piece of robust engineering. The receiver is a replica of the stamped type receiver, correct for the AK74M and features full markings, and rivets in their correct positions. The bolt also has markings on it that match the serial number found on the left side of the gun.

In conclusion the Tokyo Marui AK74MN is the pioneer in AEG design being the first AEG to feature recoil and reliability at the same time. The new gearbox design is excellent and runs great straight out of the box, even with the added stress of the recoil weight and blowback. Tokyo Marui's switch from plastic to metal makes this one heck of a solid gun. And it is certainly deserving of the label of the next generation airsoft gun.

Constructed from simliar polymers of that of the real steel G36 assault rifles, Tokyo Marui has designed and produced their brand new series of Automatic Electric Guns, what's special about this new line, is that of the Recoil Shock System.

The new Tokyo Marui Model 36K features a new recoil and shooting engine with 300g of additional weight on the gearbox and mock gas piston to facilitate in generating a realistic recoil when firing. The Recoil Shock System is one of the more effective and reliable simulated electric recoil systems in the market today with a reciprocating charging handle that "blows-back" along with the mock bolt cover.

Not only is there a new recoil and shoot engine to look forward to, Tokyo Marui has even installed an integrated 3x Rifle Scope with decent eye relief for skirmishers who wear goggles.
